100% resonates — I think there’s a lot of shame that comes with changing your mind because it feels like you didn’t commit and therefore you failed or something? Idk that’s how I feel, like changing my mind somehow indicates that it wasn’t “working” and therefore it means I failed. The reality is that we’re constantly growing and evolving, and therefore so is our brand and we who want to represent as. Normalizing your feelings, and also I think the best thing you can do to not be “flaky” is to be authentic. If your brand isn’t feeling authentic to who you are now, then I think that’s a great sign to change it
1 million percenttt like I feel not committing or changing something a year in looks like idk what I’m doing! But it’s also funny bc I’ve changed things so many times before like… why would it be off to do it again?? And I also have to remember no one is as invested as we are ourselves so it’s not that big of a deal 😅and totally agree need to keep it authentic and if that’s changing something then so be it!
I am a graphic designer with an Instagram that doesn't really reflect my aesthetic or anything. I once started designing my own corporate design but stopped liking it after a year. However, I didn't take the time to create a new one (it's on my to-do since a year or so).
So here I am, still managing to get enough clients for my work, even though I'm not fond of the current style I'm showcasing. But ultimately, people buy the outcome (my portfolio). It's funny though, because design and aesthetics are basically my job haha
Yesss Adri I imagine it’s so different for you since that’s your job it’s prob like “I can just change this now??” But prob takes sooo much planning. The planning and shift in vibe and hiring someone to change it all can be so overwhelming for me! But yes ppl do still buy, it’s that inner voice screaming to me “but that’s not your aesthetic!” 😅
Bro this is a conversation I have in my brain on the daily. I’ve come to the conclusion that you get to play with your aesthetic. Full stop.
YESSS ok i need to reframe and just PLAY. It’s not that serious and no one ever cares as much as I do 😂

I can relate to this a lot too, haha.
